At Edge Charnwood, children have the right to follow their interests and learn in the style which suits them best. We believe learning occurs in collaboration with their peers, Educators, and Families. We strongly believe in creating a warm, safe, and secure environment, where children feel free to communicate their needs, wants, and ideas.
We draw from the Reggio Emilia Philosophy and RIE Approach, using The Environment as a 3rd Teacher, offering children a rich learning environment through curriculum planning and developing respectful, responsive relationships with all children of every age.
We have strong connections with our families and our local community. We have partnered with The University of Canberra for research projects and offer this external support to children and families to ensure the best outcomes for children. At Edge Charnwood, we believe it takes a village to raise a child, and we are privileged to be a part of each child’s village.
Edge Early Learning Charnwood, previously Ducklings Early Learning, provides long daycare and preschool for children from 6 weeks to school age. Our team of long-standing educators are passionate about delivering a curriculum that is tailored to the interests and needs of the children. Our inquiry-based philosophy encourages children to ask questions, explore new ideas, and extend their findings, giving them a holistic approach to learning.
Our play-based learning guides children towards achieving development goals, including building a sense of identity, wellbeing, and being confident learners. Edge Charnwood was custom-designed around the natural elements of the suburb. Our spacious outdoor play areas were purpose-built around the native Australian trees and include veggies gardens, sandpits, communal dining spaces, and more. The natural elements continue inside the childcare centre with timber features, green walls, and light-coloured furnishings that make children feel at home and create the perfect canvas to display what they have been learning about.
ur amazing in-house chef Mary and pastry chef Philippa create a delicious weekly menu for the children to enjoy. We are passionate about involving children in the daily menu and constructing learning around nutrition, healthy bodies, and healthy minds. We cater to all dietary requirements and ensure children get the vital nutrients they need for sustained energy throughout their busy day.
