Growing at Higgins
“Play is the answer to how anything new comes about” – Jean Piaget
At Edge Early Learning Higgins, we love to teach the Rainbow, acknowledging that each experience the children participate in encompasses a range of learning opportunities. Our environments and curriculum are designed to inspire children to learn alongside one another through play. Children are able to explore their ideas and working theories with a range of open-ended resources providing the opportunity to grow. We honour and advocate for children’s rights through providing an inclusive educational program and service for all, meeting individual learning needs tailored to diverse interests, abilities, cultures, and identities.
We support educators to be the best possible early education professionals through regular training, critical reflection, mentoring, and coaching; all based on current research and understanding of best practices. Our community gathers together to build relationships, connect, collaborate and network generating a child-focused community of practice. We welcome you and your family to book a tour, meet our team, and experience Edge Higgins for yourselves.
Edge Early Learning Higgins, previously Little Penguins Early Learning, provides quality childcare and preschool programs tailored to children from 6 weeks to school age. Our team of long-standing educators are passionate about ensuring both you and your children feel welcome and involved in our Educational Curriculum and your individual child’s learning journey.
We are well connected with our local schools, businesses, and services within the Higgins community. The children enjoy visiting the residents at The Henry Retirement Village and sharing stories, activities, and letters with one another. Our peers at Belconnen High School also love to stop by to read stories and share lessons with the children, which creates such a sense of excitement about starting school.
With a focus on a successful transition to school, each child also receives a personalised program to provide the best early learning experience and aid in their growth and development. Health, wellbeing, and sustainability are also an important part of our curriculum. The children enjoy learning about recycling, our native flora and fauna, and they especially love tending to our green wall where we trim and propagate new plants from. Our in-house chef cooks the children’s meals on-site and caters to any dietary requirements, ensuring all children get the nutrition they need to sustain active learning throughout the day.
