10 crafts to try with a roll of toilet paper
23 June, 2020
This time at home has us feeling creative, and we’re looking at common household objects in a new light. Instead of tossing your next toilet paper roll, give one of these crafts a try (post-COVID-19 toilet paper madness, you may have plenty of them lying around?!!).
Toilet paper roll unicorns
We never thought we’d say this, but these toilet paper rolls are seriously adorable. All you need to create unicorn toilet paper rolls are the toilet paper roll, some pens, paint, scissors, glue and the free template in the link below.
Toilet paper roll Olaf
If your children are Frozen mad (and let’s be honest, whose aren’t?) they’ll love these toilet paper versions of everyone’s favourite talking snowman. All you need are some small black pom poms, some googly eyes, card stock and toilet paper roll craft, of course!

Toilet paper roll zebra
Now this is a fun one. There is a menagerie of animal toilet paper roll crafts out there – we’ve included a fair few in this list – so you can make some friends for these cute zebras. Grab some white and black pipe cleaner, some more googly eyes, various utensils and you’re well on your way to a full zoo.
Toilet paper roll kaleidoscope
There’s nothing like the wonder of looking through a kaleidoscope and you can recreate it for yourself with a few key materials. All you’ll need is some clear plastic, some colourful translucent beads, glue, scissors and washi tape – and a toilet paper roll!
Toilet paper roll bird feeder
We love a craft that serves a functional purpose, especially when that purpose involves bringing beautiful birdlife into your backyard. This toilet paper bird feeder calls for bird seed, string, a skewer, butter knife and peanut butter.
Toilet paper roll rocket
Your little astronaut will love these cute rockets, which you can make in any colour you like! You won’t need long to whip them up, which means more time you can spend “racing” them against one another.
Toilet paper roll animals
These toilet paper roll animals provide the perfect boredom buster – there are so many to choose from! Make yourself a whole family of lions, a crocodile, an elephant or a monkey, then go wild creating the trees, rivers and grasslands for them all to live in.

Toilet paper roll superhero cuffs
Got a baby Batman or a mini Captain Marvel on your hands? Their costume won’t be complete without some superhero cuffs and you can easily make them out of some toilet paper roll! Grab some glitter, glue and paint and you’ve got yourself one super craft activity.
Toilet paper roll minions
If your children loved the movie Despicable Me, they’ll go mad for these minions! All you need are some paints, a steady hand and an hour or so to kill – but you can definitely take longer to make the whole minion army.
Toilet paper flying carp streamer
These Japanese flying carp streamers (koinobori) are traditionally flown to celebrate Tango no sekku, now known as ‘National Children’s Day’! Grab some tissue paper, double sided tape and twine, and use this craft as an opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture – did someone say sushi lunch?
